About First Kicks

First Kicks purpose is for kids to have fun playing football, and to develop their football and teamwork skills.

We want our players to fall in love with football, play with their friends and have as much fun as possible.

All teams are mixed, we have female coaches and NSU is actively looking to promote and develop the game for females of all ages.

First Kicks teams are selected with the aim of creating maximum fun for all players - we keep the teams evenly balanced and try to ensure players are in teams with their friends and schoolmates.

At First Kicks we only play other North Shore United teams of the same age so there are no away games (these start from Grade 9 / age 9 onwards).

NSU aims to deliver a safe and stress free environment for kids to play football in any way they want.  Training and matches are designed with a focus on fun first, while slowly building skills and confidence. When you transition to Grade 9 you will notice a change in focus to playing in position and with structure (but not until then).

The games and mid-week training are run by the club coaches, so there is very little help required from parents.  Parents just need to bring half time treats/oranges, chose a player of the day (if you’re a Team Manager) and give plenty of side-line encouragement.
