First Team Coach: Joe Hughes
With 8 years of experience coaching women’s football, I have worked with numerous teams across the UK, including Coventry United Ladies and Stockingford Ladies, in roles as both a Manager and First Team Coach. My passion for female football stems from growing up with two sisters who played the game, one of whom still competes at a high level for Wolverhampton Wanderers Women.
Most recently, I was Head Coach for North Shore United's U23s and Co-Head Coach of the Under 19s, guiding them to the semi-finals in Napier.
I am determined to ensure that North Shore United has a successful women’s team where female players are not only challenged but excited to play and develop their football. My focus is on fostering an environment where players thrive and are motivated to reach their full potential, both as individuals and as part of a strong team.
Assistant Coach: Michael Stephen
I had spent a number of years coaching mens and youth football when the opportunity to coach a girls 1st 11 with Baradene College came about. I found this such a rewarding experience as a coach that I then started coaching Women’s Senior Teams with Metro and Eastern Suburbs. I then had 3 seasons with St Cuthberts College 1st 11 and also coached on the girls u14 side at AFF within the now defunct Federation coaching academies systems.
After a few seasons away from coaching the opportunity has arrived to be involved with assisting Joe Hughes and the North Shore United Women’s Team. In the short space of time the team has been in pre season training it’s clear to me we are looking at the beginning of something special with the Women’s First Team. We have a team thats incredibly enthusiastic and motivated and exciting times are ahead of us.
