Summer Footy Team Manager Role

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Every team must have a Team Manager present at all games.
The Manager is the key point of contact between the team and the organisers and plays an essential role in ensuring the competition runs smoothly, safely, and respectfully.

Before the Game

  • Confirm match details on arrival and have a clear idea of where your games will be played each week.

  • Check that the goals are on your field when you arrive.

    • If they’re not, please help move goals into position safely.

  • Ensure all players have the correct gear, team shirt (if clash colour, bibs are available at the clubrooms, We advise shin pads.

    • No bare feet allowed for safety reasons.

  • Arrange a parent or volunteer referee for your grade.

  • Make sure all players and supporters are familiar with the Summer Footy Code of Conduct and understand the spirit of fair play.

During the Game

  • Be the main contact for referees and organisers.

  • Manage player substitutions fairly and safely.

  • Maintain positive sideline behaviour, no arguing with referees, opponents, or other teams.

  • Address any issues within your team calmly and respectfully.

  • Ensure all players and supporters show respect to referees, opponents, and organisers.

  • Support the referee’s decisions, no abuse or confrontation will be accepted.

After the Game

  • Encourage players to shake hands and thank the opposition and referee.

  • If your team plays the last game of the day (or the final game of the 5-a-side format – Leagues 3 & 4, and 7 & 8), please help return the goals to the storage location.

    • We cannot leave goals on the fields after play.

  • Ensure your area is clean and tidy before leaving.

  • Pass on any messages or updates from the organisers to your team.

Manager Accountability

  • The Team Manager is responsible for the behaviour of all players, coaches, and supporters associated with their team.

  • Any complaints or reports of poor behaviour will be reviewed and may result in the team’s expulsion from the tournamentno refunds will be issued.

  • Managers must fully support and enforce the Zero Tolerance Policy at all times.
