Youth Football (U13 – U17)North Shore United AFC
(Players born in 2013, 2012 & 2011- 2009 – Grades 13. 14, 15, 17)

At North Shore United, we believe football is for everyone.

Whether a player is experienced or just beginning their journey, we provide an environment where each individual can find the right team to support their development, enjoyment, and ambition. Our focus is on creating a space that is nurturing, challenging, and aligned with each player’s stage of growth.

We welcome both male and female players and offer a clear and structured pathway from junior football into youth teams competing across a range of levels. Our teams participate in both Saturday and Sunday competitions, allowing players to balance their football commitments alongside school and other activities.

Inclusion is at the heart of our club. Every player has a place at North Shore United, and we are committed to ensuring all players can participate, develop, and enjoy the game within a supportive and professional environment.

A Balanced Approach to Development

We recognise the importance of a balanced lifestyle for young players. Football plays an important role in their development, but it is equally important that players are able to manage their commitments across school, family, and other interests.

At North Shore United, we support players in combining both school and club football. Our competition structure allows flexibility, with:

  • Championship and Conference teams competing on Sundays (competitive pathway)

  • League teams competing on Saturdays (social and development pathway)

This structure enables players to represent both their school and the club, while continuing to develop within an environment that suits their level of commitment and ambition.

Our priority is to support each player’s overall wellbeing while providing opportunities to grow within the game.

Player Pathways

As players progress from junior to youth football, they enter a stage where development becomes more structured and aligned with their individual goals.

Following the junior years, where players build strong technical foundations, players can progress into different pathways within the youth programme:

  • Player Development Programme (PDP)

  • Championship teams

  • Conference teams

  • League and community teams

Each pathway provides an appropriate level of challenge, ensuring players continue to develop in an environment that suits their ability, motivation, and aspirations.

Player Development Programme (PDP)

For players who are motivated to reach the next level and are seeking a more demanding and structured environment, our Player Development Programme (PDP) offers a clear pathway.

The PDP is designed to:

  • Develop technically and tactically advanced players

  • Provide a high-performance training environment

  • Prepare players for higher levels of football

At North Shore United, our goal is to develop complete footballers who are confident, adaptable, and ready to succeed at any level, while remaining grounded in the values and culture of our club.

Football Beyond Youth

It is important to understand that the pathway does not end with youth football.

While some players may progress into U23 or First Team environments, North Shore United offers a wide range of senior and community football opportunities. This ensures that every player can continue playing the game in a way that suits their goals, whether competitive or social.

Our aim is to support lifelong participation in football, allowing players to stay connected to the game and the club for years to come.

2026 Fees

  • Youth 13th - 17th Grade Winter Season Registration Fee = $370 + $25 Building Levy Total $395 *

Please note this fee covers the cost of one team training session and one team game during Terms 2 & 3. This fee also goes towards to the running of the club, gear renewal, coach education etc. When the fee is broken down for each age group, it equates to around $6 per hour of football activity.

The club has kept the base membership fee the same as 2025 - however in 2026 and subsequent years we will be charging all members a building levy of $25. The clubs facilities are dated and many are in urgent need of repair. The club will continue with fundraising, sponsorship and grant funding initiatives to fund these projects, but this needs to be supplemented by member contributions. For 2026 the club has agreed a deal with Auckland Council that will see the council gift the wooden building at Bayswater Park to NSU, but this in contingent on the club renovating the structure.  We want to preserve this building for use by future generations of NSU members hence this years levy will be fully allocated to the Bayswater project.

There is also a third child discount which is 50% discount off the lowest priced child for the season fee not the levy for facilities. Please email NSU Club Manager clubmanager@nsu.org.nz with regards to this discount and how to register your child.

* Please also note that if your child is selected for a PDP Team then an additional fee will be invoiced to you which will bring the total fee for the 2026 season for playing in a PDP Team to $1000 in total.
